Deadly conflict in Sudan has forced millions of people to flee their homes leading to one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world and the only famine confirmation worldwide since 2017. As the violence continues, more than 24 million people are facing acute hunger, according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) – the global standard for measuring food insecurity. Famine was first confirmed in August 2024 in North Darfur’s Zamzam camp and has since spread to nine more areas. Hundreds of thousands of lives are at risk.
JOINT HUB SUPPORTThe Joint Hub support to WFP and UNHCR country operations in Sudan focused on data interoperability, which resulted in the deployment of biometric interoperability solution that allowed WFP to use its beneficiary information and transfers management platform (SCOPE) with UNHCR biometrics. The Joint Hub support was concluded in 2022. |
